Anglet is ideally located at Biarritz’ doors and neighbour to Bayonne, capital city of the basque region. It is also bordered by the Atlantic Ocean on one side and by the Adour River on the other side. It boasts about 5 km of golden sand divided in 11 beaches renowned for surfing.
Anglet and Biarritz are also renowned for the practice of Golf. The Golf in Anglet is called Golf de Chiberta. It lies on an exceptional spot, nestled between the Ocean and the Forest Du Pignada. It offers two courses, one with 18 holes and the other with 9 holes called the Empress’s Course. The Golf du Phare is located in Biarritz.
In the heart of Anglet lies an immense maritime pine forest of 250 hectares (617 acres) called Forêt du Pignada, ideal for horse riding and cycling. Cycling is also very pleasant on the Boulevard des Plages cycling trail running along the 11 beaches. To enjoy greenery and a bit of countryside, you can take the twenty-odd kilometres flat cycling trail that runs alongside the Adour and the Nive Rivers towards Bayonne and Ustaritz. And if cycling is your hobby, bear in mind that the Landes department neighbouring Anglet on the North is The place for cycling on flat trails sheltered in the maritime pine trees Forêt des Landes, the widest forest in Europe. For a bit of rest after so many activities take a break at the Atlanthal thalassotherapy complex, situated on the Beach of the Cavaliers.
